When Bonnie called me asking about places to do a photo session with her family, I spent a little bit of time talking with her to find out exactly what kind of look they were going for. Did they want lots of color? Texture? Nature? Or the comforts of home? I like to remind my clients that the background is never as important as the subjects in telling the story… we can take pictures anywhere, provided the lighting is complementary.

After talking with Bonnie I knew the park would be the perfect place for their family. We met in the morning, hoping we would escape the brutal afternoon heat, and walked in and through the lovely park grounds.

I love when I get a chance to sit with the kids for a little bit, especially in this case when they are older. I get a great insight into their relationship with each other, and always get to hear an embarrasing story or two!

Good thing everyone had a sense of humor! They also had a special bond, and this was one of my lucky quick captures that happened when I least espected it – and now it’s one of my favorites:

I totally would love to have a photo of my daughter and I like this someday.

Thanks, Bonnie, for giving me a chance to get to know your wonderful family! I had a great morning with you.
