Adoption Photographer | Dorothy’s First Bath and a Home Cooked Meal

Our amazingly awesome in-country coordinator, “The Enforcer”, invited us to his home to have dinner and meet his wife. We were so excited to be able to go, but first it was time to get Dorothy cleaned up… so Tisra and Eric drew a bath for her (the nice thing about our hotel room was that it had a bathtub!), and we let Dorothy experience her very first actual BATH.

Ohhh that little brown bootie!

She was having NONE OF IT. Tisra had to ask Eric to stop filming and help out because she needed at LEAST two extra hands. This little girl was SQUIRMY!

And even when Eric was there, she did not enjoy it one bit.

and the HAIRWASHING! Poor girl thought it was TORTURE!

She may hold a grudge for that experience.

Okay, maybe not.:)

After she was all clean, we went to our coordinator’s home. It was so nice to meet his beautiful wife…

and teh dinner she had prepared for us was really really wonderful! Potatoes in a tomato gravy, rice, eggplant with melted cheese, and Puri bread. MMMM. Puri bread was amazing!

Tisra asked how it was made, and our coordinator’s wife took us into her kitchen so she could show us!

IMG_9615

It’s just a simple dough made with wheat flour and water… then rolled out flat.

IMG_9617

Then dropped in a small pan of hot sunflower oil and cooked until it puffs upĀ - about 20 seconds – then turned over to brown it perfectly.

IMG_9626

That was it! She told Tisra to try it this time… Tisra rolled out the dough…

IMG_9628

and with some guidance, fried it in the oil perfectly!

when it was done, it was a nice little puff of bread that was soooo tasty!

It was an absolutely lovely meal… afterward, the time was getting late, so we headed back to our hotel rooms. We were considering going to the Taj Mahal at 6am to see it as the sun rose, but after thinking about it and realizing just how exhausted we would probably be, we figured it would probably be just as nice at 9 am! So that was our plan for the next day…

Mary Kelso - With every meal you describe I’m wondering if Tisra is taking notes and hoping she’ll have some new kitchen tricks to bring home with her. Sure enough…Tisra does not disappoint.

And poor little baby in the bathtub. Squirmy wet toddlers are no easy foe.
