Lauren had called me last year to photograph her newborn baby boy… and I was so happy when she called me again to document his special first birthday party! I normally am not an “event” photographer, but this was different… she wanted me to document the special ceremony that accompanies a Korean child’s first birthday party.
First, he had to be dressed in the traditional clothing…
Then he is seated at a table with various items in front of him, including objects like a brush, a pen, a bowl of rice, a book, and money. Whatever item he reaches for first will determine his future.
It was the pen! Maybe he will be a writer… or an intellectual!
I love that the whole extended family was there to celebrate!
Everyone had the chance to enjoy a special moment with the Birthday Boy…
And even his Big Brother was happy to be a part of the celebration!
But of course, what’s a birthday without cake?
